Just outside Monaco on the French Riviera, the Best Western Premier Hotel Prince de Galles, Menton, France, is a hotel rich in history, a former barracks of the Princes of Monaco that has welcomed Riviera travellers since 1865, run today by the Laurenti family with a warm and attentive welcome. An uninterrupted view of the sea, the Italian Riviera, and the old town of Menton sets the scene, and the region's exceptionally mild climate makes it an easy place to slow down. Most of the air-conditioned rooms open onto a balcony, with a breakfast terrace, a solarium, and a Mediterranean garden for unhurried mornings. Menton, the last French town before Italy, is famous for its lemon groves, its painted old town climbing above the sea, and the former summer residence of the Princes of Monaco just nearby. With Monaco minutes away and the Italian border closer still, the hotel sits on one of the gentlest stretches of the whole coast. Sun and sea fill the days here.
